Lisa Williamson, also known as Sister Souljah, is African American author, mother, wife, speaker, educator and advisor. She was born 1964, in Bronx, New York raised along with her siblings and raised in the projects with her mother. Her mother and father divorced early and her father’s epilepsy ended his job as a truck driver. Lisa came from the bottom and found her way out. She graduated from Rutgers University, earning a degree in American History and African Studies. She attended Cornell University Advanced Placement Studies and studied abroad in Europe at Salamanca University. Her academic accomplishments were reinforced with first hand experiences. She traveled throughout her college years. 

Williamson has one child, a son. She started a career as an author, advisor, hip-hop artist and speaker. In 1992, she released her only album, 360 Degrees of Power.360 Degrees of Power is the only album by Sister Souljah, released on Epic/SME Records.The album was met with heavy criticism,  for its performance and its controversial lyrics. The two singles and music videos, “The Hate that Hate Produced” and “The Final Solution: Slavery’s Back in Effect,” were banned from MTV because of their negative language and imagery.The album made it to number seventy-two on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop album chart, selling only 27,000 copies. 

She is also a community activist. She spoke at many universities about African American culture and the urban youth. She organized many programs.Sister Souljah developed a African Youth Survival camp for two-hundred children of homeless families. She is also the author of, and best known for, 4 national best sellers. The Coldest Winter Ever, Midnight: A Gangsta Love Story, Midnight and The Meaning Of Love and NO DISRESPECT.   

Today, Souljah is a twenty-first century multidimensional woman. Right now Williamson is enjoying being a mother and wife. It has been 13 years since the making of the coldest winter ever. She is currently working on the follow up to her first best seller,  A Deeper Love Inside The Porsche Santiaga Story. Souljah takes readers back inside the inner workings of the Santiaga clan. It is said to be released January 29^th, 2013. Her career overall has been one roller coaster. She’s one busy woman and stays looking for more work. This will not be the last time you hear from her.
