Domestic violence editorial:

Domestic violence, also known as intimate partner violence, is a pattern of negative behavior that is used by one person to gain power and control over another. It may include the use of physical and sexual violence, verbal and emotional abuse, stalking and economic abuse. Sexual, emotional and psychological intimidation may also occur. Domestic violence is a gender-based crime with women being more likely to experience domestic violence than men. According to the National Violence Against Women Survey (NVAWS) about 1.5 million women are raped and/or physically assaulted by an intimate partner annually.

Domestic violence is a crime affecting not only the victims but society as well and therefore, knowledge and the enforcement of laws are needed for the prevention and treatment of this abuse. Personally touched by this type of violence, I strongly believe that with a better understanding of this crime and how to recognize its effects, we can help put an end to this type of abuse and make the road to recovery a promising one. However, there are still those who feel that this is not an important issue, and these are the views we must change. Picture having to live your everyday life in fear, not being able to be yourself because you’re scared you might say something wrong. As a young child witnessing this abuse is unbearable.

Domestic violence has many effects, both short-term and long-term. For the victims, women especially, there are physical injuries, miscarriages, and death. They also suffer from depression and  eating disorders. Children from violent homes may suffer poor health, low self-esteem and sleeping difficulties

Here are some statistics that are common in today’s society. 1) Every 9 seconds in the US a woman is assaulted or beaten. 2) Most often, the abuser is a member of her own family. 3) Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women—more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined. 4) Studies suggest that up to 10 million children witness some form of domestic violence annually. 5) Nearly 1 in 5 teenage girls who have been in a relationship said a boyfriend threatened violence or self-harm if presented with a breakup. 6) Everyday in the US, more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends. 7) 95 percent of women who had been physically abused by their partners had never contacted non-governmental organizations, shelters, or the police for help.

There are many organizations and programs to help people today get through this abuse but it is up to the victim to get help. No it is not always easy but when you get the chance DO NOT turn back or waste an opportunity. There’s always help, just don’t wait until it’s too late.

It's a New Year!!!!!!

I do not have a new years  resolution because every year that I do decide to make one, It never goes through. I feel that this year should be my year since I'm graduating and going off to college. By that I'm saying whatever happen this year just happens. I'm a strong person I'll just have to think positive and remain motivated through out the year.

Recent Meal :)

The recent meal I had was some baked spaghetti, salad and cheesy garlic bread. That's my favorite meal. The cheese on the baked spagetti was so soft and cheesy. The spaghetti and the salad was so good I had to come back for more. The garlic bread was so buttery and cheesy. The whole meal together was absolutely delicious. That's a meal that will fill you up in ten minutes.

3WISHES!!!

#3
If I had three wishes my third wish would be for everyone to live forever.
I would be able to have more time with my family and I wouldn't have to worry about "what if something happens to me tomorrow" or "what if I don't get to do this next week" or "what if my parents don't live to see my wedding day". That wouldn't even be a worry because we would live forever and time would be on my side. There would be no diseases and I would have more energy and to invest in becoming successful means infinity
#2
My second wish would be to have lots and lots of money. I know they say "mo money mo problems" but shoot right about now in my situation money would solve all my problems. My family wouldn't have to worry about what we're going to eat today or tomorrow. I could help people who are homeless. I rather help the needy and not the greedy! having a lot of money wouldn't change me, maybe the people around me but I don't care.

 <<<<<< look at all that!

#1
My number one wish would be to have all the violence stop in the world. All this commiting suicide and killing others is just ridiculous. I just want world peace. I'm not saying I want everyone to be happy all the time but can we just stop with the idiotic choices we make? Seriously life would be so much better if people stop being so ignorant!!

Music is all I need

Music moves me in a way I can't explain. Any mood I am in, music seems to always adapt to my feelings. On days I'm turnt I blast 2 Chainz or Meek Mill. On sad, gloomy days where I'm "in my feelings" I listen to slow jamz or smooth R&B. But that only makes it worse! Hip Hop gets me hype and I want to fight sometimes, lol but it makes you forget about whatever sadness that has come over you. Still I don't care because music is all I need. When everybody has pissed you off and made you cry music is always there. When you come home from a stressful day at work/school listen to music, and turn your thoughts off for a moment and just relax. When you have too much homework just listen to music and do your work, you will be involved more and may get done with your work a little quicker. Some music just make you sit and think about deep stuff. Music can't hurt nobody so music is my bestfriend. Music will never betray you. Music is here to delay a message, sooth your heart or make you think. Music is all you need.

Holidays!!!

Holidays are not that important to me as I have grown up. When I was a kid I would get excited about the upcoming holidays. I knew on certain holidays we did not have to attend school. I also knew that you could get gifts on certain holidays like Valentine's day, Christmas, Halloween etc. The holidays just give you a reason to smile. I love spending time with my family on holidays because it gives us time to bond.

Why im ready for college!

Senior year is so over rated. People think when you become a senior you automatically have fun, less homework, and you can just chill..WRONG! senior year is preparing you for college and it is indeed very stressful, plan ahead, think positive and stay busy doing extra curricular activities. I feel that all this hard work im doing will eventually pay off I just can't give up. I'm ready for the college life because I want to explore and step outside of my comfort zone. College will be probably ten times harder than high school but atleast I'm not forced to do anything. College will either make me or break me and either way im ready to continue my journey of getting a education. Even though I'll have a lot of freedom I will always have my dignity and self respect no matter where I am or where I am going. I'm ready to meet new people. I'm pretty sure college will be fun as long as I know that hard work comes along with it. College is not for everybody and I want to be one of few who actually went to college in my family. College here I come :)
